Commemorating Gandhiji's Dandi March

Mahatma Gandhi launched the historic  Salt Satyagraha  on March 12, 1930 at 6.30 a.m.  when he started with 78 volunteers on the historic march of Dandi. A huge crowd followed. For miles and miles the roads were watered and bestrewn with green leaves; the flags and festoons gave an appearance of festival. Gandhiji at the head of the procession set a fast pace with his staff in hand. He broke the unjust Salt Law on April 6, 1930.

For the past three years, Gandhi Smriti has been organizing a large number of programmes during March 12-April 6 to commemorate the Dandi March.

Gandhi Smriti calls upon all to celebrate every year this Period as a tribute to Gandhiji’s Dandi March.
