To celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day, Director (i/c) Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Shri Sanjeet Kumar along with Programme Officer GSDS Dr. Vedabhyas Kundu joined by large number of youth from 38 colleges of Delhi University offered floral tributes at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat. On this occasion, Shri Sanjeet Kumar also administered the ‘National Unity Pledge’ to the participating youth and staff members of GSDS.
In his address, Shri Sanjeet Kumar spoke at length about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental contribution to the making of modern India. He highlighted how Patel’s farsighted leadership and administrative acumen were instrumental in integrating over 560 princely states into the Indian Union, thereby laying the foundation for a unified and sovereign nation. Shri Sanjeet Kumar also recalled Patel’s deep commitment to Gandhian principles and his role as a true disciple of Mahatma Gandhi, working tirelessly to transform the Mahatma’s ideals into administrative reality.
Emphasizing the relevance of Sardar Patel’s legacy for today’s youth, Shri Sanjeet Kumar urged the students to imbibe Patel’s spirit of discipline, determination, and service to the nation. He called upon the young participants to contribute actively to the process of nation-building through unity of thought, purpose, and action, and to take inspiration from Patel’s life in addressing contemporary challenges confronting the nation.
