On the occasion of the 78th Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi, a Sarva Dharma (interfaith) Prayer Meeting was organised at Gandhi Smriti on Janaury 30, 2026. On this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Martyr’s Column, the martyrdom site of Mahatma Gandhi.

The highlight of the programme was a musical tribute to Bapu presented by over 400 school children drawn from almost 40 schools of Delhi and the NCR. Further, renowned Kabir singer and Padmashri awardee Shri Prahlad Singh Tipania mesmerised the audience with his soulful renditions. Through bhajans such as “Mat Kar Maya Ko Ahankar” and “Zara Halke Gaadi Hanko Mere Ram Gaadi Wale”, he immersed the atmosphere in deep devotional fervour.

Spiritual leaders from various faiths recited prayers from their respective religion during the programme.

Diplomats from the UN, Embassy of Belgium, Lithuania, Jamaican High Commission, Chad, Russia, Benin, Suriname, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka, Equatorial Guinea, Guyana High Commission, Honorary Consulate of Haiti. Moldova, Trinidad, Mexico, Italy and other distinguished guests from different organizations attended this commemorative programme.
